Picture isn’t mine, but identical. 2013 GT Karakoran 4.0; barely ridden, essentially new.

I haven’t been on a bike in a decade, seriously excited about this. I grew up riding a GT Talero, so I am very partial to the brand. The issue is that I got an insane deal on this bike, nothing even remotely close to it for the price ($200). But the stand over is almost zero. Its an XL frame. I’m 6’1”. Riding position feels good, but this bike is HUGE. I’ll ride it for a month or so to see if I get used to it, but I have a feeling its just too big. I won’t be able to find anything close to this for what I’m paying, especially how nice and practically new this one is.

I bought a 2011 GT Karakoram new. I changed the grips, added a longer front stem and put clipless pedals on it. It was a fun bike, though it didn’t feel particularly nimble. Definitely better at riding over things than around them. It and my road bike (Ridley Icarus) were stolen out of my old garage last year. I do miss my MTB. $200 for yours is a steal.

Good to see their are still sticking with that triple triangle...for some reason. I use to sell GT back in the 2000’s just before they were sold to pacific. Neat bikes.

It varies a bit by brand but I ride an XL frame Specialized and at 6’5” I am definitely maxing out the rider size envelope for my bike. At 6’1” you’re probably alright to ride that frame size and probably just have to get used to it and maybe make a few small adjustments to get the bike to fit you best (adjust seat or maybe replace the stem or handlebars). A bike shop can help you get the best fit on the bike but if you’re just riding casually that’s not super neccesary.

As a former Perfomance Bikes employee, it was likely bought on the cheap and resold. These are pretty awesome bikes. Just be careful of the brake mounts and rotors, they might be wobbly/hard as fuck to adjust. Enjoy!

I had a couple older versions of that bike. I loved them. I’ve found that a smaller frame is better for technical riding and agility but the larger frame is better for speed and comfort.

Love those Maxxis tires. I’ve got those on my bike.

Best of luck, you got it for a steal! Like some of the others said, you may be able to mess with it to get it closer to your fit and liking but I would just ride the hell out of it until then!

I picked up my first new bike in May from REI. So far so good!

I’m sure riding it will be fine once it is adjusted to fit - correct stem length, seat height & fore/aft position, tilt, etc.

Just watch it when it's time to get off, especially when going you are going up a steep hill and have run out of forward momentum. Standover heights change drastically on hills.
